Reclining Mouflon

October 10, 2011

Reclining Mouflon

Five thousand year or so ago

a premodern modern artist carved

a minimalist hunk of marble

into a massive mouflon in miniature.

Before Rodin or Henry Moore or Noguchi

this marvelous nameless faceless artist

was discovering the ageless truism

that what the sculptor but begins

the viewer can aptly finish.
