The Fireside

August 25, 2011

The Fireside

Through a glass darkly

Degas lets us see

women of the night

in a camera obscura

with his camera obscura

of monotype

The only light is

that of a lit fireplace

created

iPad style

with Edgar’s pudgy fingers

pushing dark ink around

just  … so

until the flame shaped blotch

becomes

once pressed to

white heavy laid paper

fire.
